2024 AWG Information

2024 ALBERTA WINTER GAMES

I have attached the details for the 2024 AWG PLAYDOWN/QUALIFIER AWG to this email. (Technical Package) This is a great event for athletes to be part of a team in a multisport environment. I encourage all coaches to start to identify athletes that meet the age and weight division requirements and start to develop a program. You want to get these athletes competing and practicing within the province and at inter-provincial events like the 2024 Saskatchewan Open. The AWG is also a great opportunity to get young potential coaches and referees involved from your ZONES. The AWG program should be seen as a great developmental event for athletes, coaches and referees

Sample AWG Training / Preparation Plan:

November 03/04, 2023 Regional Training – Edmonton / Calgary

November 25, 2023 – Florence Senda Tournament, Lethbridge

November 25, 2023 – AWG PLAYDOWN/QUALIFIER Southern Zones, Lethbridge (ZONES 1-3)

December 02, 2023, AWG PLAYDOWN/QUALIFIER Northern Zones, Fort Saskatchewan (ZONE 4-8)

December 15-17, 2023, Winter Camp, Lethbridge

January 19-20, Provincial Training Camp/AWG Training Camp, Calgary

January 27-28, 2024, Sask Open, Regina, Saskatchewan

February 03, 2024, Rocky Mountain, Calgary

Athletes teams do not have to follow this sample training/preparation plan but it is important to make sure that the athletes who are attending the 2024 AWG are prepared. It is is important to have a training plan that is full of training opportunities, competition opportunities and travel experiences. The preparation and journey is as important as the event itself!
