2017 Sportif International Selection

Hello coaches,

Judo Alberta is proud to make the following selection to the 2017 Sportif International competition and training camp from April 12 to April 17, 2017 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

This is a great developmental international competition and training camp featuring athletes from over 20 different European countries. The training camp will feature a full day of Neil Adams focusing on his world famous juji-gatame.

THE JUDO ALBERTA CANADA WINTER GAMES FUNDING FOR THIS EVENT IS: $750.00 PER ATHLETE

Cost: The approximate cost for this event is $2,000.00

Judo Alberta will be making the flight, hotel and ground transportation arrangements for this event.

Judo Alberta Acceptance Deadline is: February 03, 2017

Registration: Athletes have to register for the competition and camp online

Judo Canada will also have a team from Lethbridge RTC attending this event and other RTCs in Canada.

Self-Funded Athletes:

U18 / U21 athletes from Alberta who are not selected for this event are invited to attend this event. Athletes attending this event should be a medallist previous National Championships or Quebec Opens or Ontario Opens or can be recommended by the Judo Alberta Coach Committee.

IMPORTANT:

Attending an international event should not replace any provincial or domestic developmental events. This is a great event for athletes who have been competing at the national level and are serious about training and performance.

Canada Winter Games Funding

Hello coaches,

Judo Alberta is proud to provide funding for the following Canada Winter Games eligible athletes for the 2017 Pacific International on March 04-05, 2017.

The athlete will be provided with the funding following the event. Judo Clubs are responsible for registration, flight and hotel arrangements. (Judo Alberta is not making arrangements only funding)

Judo Alberta Acceptance Deadline is: February 03, 2017

Important:

Ewan Beaton will be staying for the first 2 days of the national training camp. The training camp is an excellent opportunity for athletes to train with athletes from other athletes and national coaches. It is recommended for athletes to attend this camp. The camp is eligible for points in the Judo Alberta selection criteria for the 2017 Open Nationals.

Guest coach for the camp will be National Coach Janusz Pawlowski. He is a former World Championship and Olympic medallist who has coached/trained numerous world class athletes around the world. The training camp will also feature athletes from Japan who were participating at the 2017 Pacific International.

Please provide me with a list of athletes who will be staying for the camp.

Elite Athlete Funding Announcement

The Judo Alberta Coaching Committee would like to congratulate the following athletes who have been granted athlete funding. Funding is based on performance and results, commitment to training, participation in National or International events and financial need. These athletes applied for the first round of elite athlete funding for “costs incurred from” events participated in from September to December 2016. The next round of funding will be announced in April 2017 for competitions and training camps participated in between January 2017 – April 2017

funding opportunity were not considered in these applications

Athletes that have received funding this round must fill out an athlete expense claim form attach their invoices from competitions/ training camp and sends into Garry Yamashita to receive their funding.
